One of the hottest trends in the hearth industry, pun intended, is the new electric hearth products. These include: Electric Fireplaces, Electric Fireplace Inserts, and Electric Log Sets. These products are perfect for the DIYer since they are much easier to install, and since there are no venting requirements to worry about, they can be located almost anywhere you have space and an electrical outlet.   

Not Your Father’s Electric Fireplace

The current generation of electric hearth products are a huge improvement over the older models that you may have seen in the past.  Gone are the pixilated graphics projected on flat screen with no depth and looking like something from a 1980’s video game.  The current generation of electric hearth products use three-dimensional design technology to create a flame effect that is almost impossible to tell from the real thing. Many of these units also produce a limited amount of heat to further enhance the feel of an open flame without the associated dangers to children and pets.  This also makes it super easy if you want to mount a TV directly over your fireplace since you don’t have to worry about radiated heat affecting your TV. These units are reliable and almost maintenance free.
